Where Trimble County Jail Releases Go
“Trimble County Jail” can point to a county responsibility, an old building, or an informal label for a Trimble case. The official Trimble County jailer page says the office fulfills Fiscal Court's duty to provide incarceration for people arrested, sentenced, or held by Trimble District or Circuit Court. It does not publish a working inmate search or say that the New Hope Road address is a secure detention unit.
A true community release may follow bond, recognizance, a court order, dismissal, or completion of a local sentence. A person may instead leave one jail for another county, enter Kentucky Department of Corrections custody, or be handed to a federal or immigration authority under a documented hold. Only the first category clearly means release to the community. The final booking sheet should record the date, time, type, and any receiving agency.
Confirm a Trimble County Jail Release
Start with the last known custodian, not with a search result bearing the county name. The best current statement found that Trimble prisoners are housed at Carroll County Regional Detention Center came from a secondary directory. The official Carroll page confirms that the regional center exists, but neither official county page confirmed the current Trimble arrangement. Verify placement for the person and date.
- Call the Trimble jailer and ask which physical facility held the named person for the relevant booking.
- Ask that facility for the final booking and release record, including release type and any destination agency.
- Check Kentucky VINELink for a dated release or a move between covered records.
- Read the Trimble District or Circuit Court case for the order, disposition, sentence, or bond action that explains the event.
- If the record says transfer or hold, continue with the named jail, KOOL, BOP, or ICE system.
The full named-person workflow is also explained on the Trimble County released-inmates search and records page. A court order can explain authority for release, but its filing time is not automatically the moment the person left the facility.
Trimble County Jailer Records and Contact
The county lists Jailer Bobby Temple at 537 New Hope Road, Bedford, KY 40006, telephone 502-255-4784. Use this office first to identify the physical custodian when the housing site is unclear. Do not assume the jailer holds every operational booking photo or release timestamp.

Trimble County's open-records page provides a form and cites KRS 61.870 through 61.884. A written request may also go to the appropriate office. Fiscal Court can route an unclear request, but it is not automatically the custodian of a detention record created in Carroll County.
What the Trimble County Jailer Does
The jailer is a county constitutional office tied to Trimble Fiscal Court's incarceration obligation. That administrative role should be separated from the site where detention staff booked, housed, and released a person. Trimble may hold transport, payment, or administrative records while a regional center holds the operational file. Ask each office for records it created or maintains.
A well-scoped request identifies the person by full name and date of birth, supplies a booking or case number when known, gives an approximate date range, and asks for an electronic copy. Request the nonexempt booking date and time, release date and time, recorded release type, disposition, transfer or destination agency, and booking photograph. Ask for separable nonexempt portions and an advance fee estimate.
Why the Historic Trimble County Jail Matters
The Kentucky Historical Society marker describes Bedford's stone jail as erected around 1850, with a second story added in 1899. The Frazier History Museum reports that it closed on May 6, 1983 because of fire and safety violations. These facts explain a modern search trap, but they do not establish where anyone is held today.
A map image, historic marker, or search result titled “Trimble County Jail” may refer to the old structure. The elected jailer is a present office. The criminal case remains in Trimble County. The physical custodian may be a regional jail outside the county. Treat those as four separate facts and confirm each one rather than merging them.
The official Kentucky Historical Society marker page supplies the historical context for this distinction.

Read a Trimble County Release Record
The most useful record is the custodian's final booking and release sheet. Read the release timestamp together with the stated type and destination. “Transfer” does not mean the person was free. A DOC commitment changes the search route to KOOL and KDOC records. A detainer can shift custody to another sovereign. A community release should still be checked against any known hold.
| Record item | What it answers |
|---|---|
| Release date and time | When the person left that custodian |
| Release type | Bond, order, sentence completion, transfer, or other recorded basis |
| Destination agency | Whether custody continued elsewhere |
| Court case number | Which Trimble docket may explain the event |
VINE is a notification and custody-status service, not a certified release record. The court docket is organized around charges, events, disposition, sentence, and later orders. Use both as corroboration, then obtain the custodian's record when exact wording or time matters.
Requesting Trimble County Jail Records
KRS 61.872 permits a Kentucky resident to make a signed, legible request through an accepted delivery channel and allows a residency statement. KRS 61.880 provides the five-business-day grant or denial framework. If a record is in storage, active use, or unavailable, the agency must give a place, time, and date within five days unless it provides a detailed reason and earliest available date.
KRS 61.874 permits copying and postage charges. Ordinary noncommercial paper or standard electronic copies cannot include staff time in the charge, though custom formats may support staff cost. The Trimble page did not publish a local fee, so request an electronic copy and an estimate. KRS 61.878 exemptions and redactions can apply to private, juvenile, sealed, expunged, medical, security, victim, or qualifying law-enforcement material.
Trimble County Custody Is Not One System
A current county roster describes present visibility at a jail. A county release record documents departure from that jail. KOOL concerns sentenced Kentucky offenders and community supervision. BOP covers federal prisoners from 1982 forward. ICE's locator is mainly a current immigration-custody tool. None can safely substitute for all the others.
If a name vanishes from the Carroll current-inmate page, call 502-732-9499 and request the event record. If the person entered KDOC custody, use KOOL and, for an actual state release, KDOC Daily Releases or a resident record card. If the person entered supervision, District 12 may be relevant. If a federal or immigration transfer is documented, follow the federal record. This sequence preserves the difference between leaving one building and leaving custody.
